Lifetime VIP Member, Janet L. Mitchell Has Recently Been Recognized by America’s Registry of Outstanding Professionals as Professional of the Year 2016
America’s Registry of Outstanding Professionals has recognized Janet L. Mitchell for her accomplishments in the field of English Composition and Linguistics as a Lifetime VIP. Based on her achievements, she has now been selected as Professional of the Year 2016.
Farmingdale, NY, December 25, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Janet L. Mitchell of Glendora, California is an Associate Adjunct Professor at Pasadena City College and an adjunct at Citrus College as well as an Educator Specialist at Mt. Baldy School. She earned her A.A. in Liberal Studies at Pasadena City College and her B.A. in English at the University of California at Los Angeles. Both of her M.A.’s in English and TESOL were earned at the California State University at Los Angeles. Ms. Mitchell’s background in education includes teaching at Crenshaw LEARN Charter High School from 1993-2001. She was curriculum writer and instructor of teacher credentialing courses in the Los Angeles Unified School District Internship Program from 1997-2003 and began working as an Adjunct Instructor at the Community College level in 2002; in addition to where she is currently teaching, she has also worked at East Los Angeles College and Glendale Community College. Her teaching experience also includes being a Teaching Coordinator and Instructor at the Learning Collective. Ms. Mitchell’s many honors and awards include being nominated for Teacher of the Year at PCC, being published in Michelle Pacansky-Brock’s How to Humanize Your On-Line Class with Voice Thread, helping produce Stretch Acceleration courses at PCC, membership in Who’s Who of American Teachers, The Golden Apple Award for Best Practices and The Copeland Award from Pasadena City College. She has several selected publications and conferences to her credit including: The California Online Education Initiative; Canvas Pedagogy Instructor; A World of Ideas, Lee A Jacobs, Book Review, 2014. Ms. Mitchell is affiliated with the Modern Language Association, The National Council of Teachers of English, American Comparative Literature and The Interactive Multimedia and Collaborative Communications Alliance. Ms. Mitchell says “My deepest purpose as an educator is to help my students realize and meet their own ‘deepest purposes’ as well as to inspire them to want to know more. All of this happens in a way that is sometimes chaotic and uncomfortable, but that, too, is part of learning.”
