NSC Team Win West Midlands Regional Championship
Oswestry, United Kingdom, December 11, 2015 --(PR.com)-- The New Saints (TNS) Sports scholars at North Shropshire College (NSC) have recently won the 7-a-side Regional Championship at the Dimension Leisure Centre in Stoke-on-Trent. NSC was one of 18 teams from across the West Midlands taking part and competed against teams from Gloucestershire, the Black Country, Warwickshire, Birmingham, Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Staffordshire.
Sports Lecturer, Steve Benyon, commented, "Considering the size and calibre of the other colleges, the squad representing North Shropshire College and The New Saints conducted themselves extremely well, and certainly took the tournament by storm by remaining unbeaten throughout and earning rave reviews from all opposition teams on our style of play and the way we conducted ourselves both on and off the pitch. Massive credit also has to go to Steve Evans on continuing to develop these players as well as Sports lecturers Dan, Sal, Paul, Nick and Mike and the other sport tutors on allowing the players to receive the fantastic education off the pitch. We now look forward to representing the region in the National Finals in April."
Dan Stevens, NSC’s Sport and Leisure Curriculum Manager, commented, "NSC and TNS won on penalties in the final and will be heading to the National Championships in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne in April 2016. There they will face the winners of all the other regions to determine if they can achieve the 7-a-side National Championships."
