Solomon Exam Prep Launches “Series 50 MSRB Municipal Advisor Representative Qualification Exam” Study Program

The Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board establishes professional standards for municipal advisors. The MSRB requires advisors to take exams to test competency based on the roles and duties advisors perform in their position. Earlier this year the Securities and Exchange Commission approved amendments which established the new Municipal Advisor Representative Qualification Examination (Series 50). This exam tests the general knowledge required to perform municipal advisory duties and qualifies an individual as a municipal advisor.

The Series 50 outline contains the following five functions:

· Understanding SEC and MSRB Rules Regarding Municipal Advisors
· Understanding Municipal Finance
· Performing Issuer’s Credit Analysis and Due Diligence
· Structuring, Pricing and Executing Municipal Debt Products
· Understanding Requirements Related to the Issuance of Municipal Debt
