Kevin Sorbo to Star in Crowd-Funded "The Christmas Gift!"
Information regarding Christmas movie crowdfunding on Indiegogo.
Los Angeles, CA, December 11, 2015 --(PR.com)-- "This is not a holiday movie. It's a Christmas movie!" declares Producer.
Kevin Sorbo has signed on for a starring role in the upcoming independent production of "The Christmas Gift," a family oriented tale of hope, sacrifice, faith, and joy, with more than a little bit of Christmas magic throughout. Also confirmed to appear in the film are Dan Martin (Rush Hour, Heat) and Ella Joyce (Bubba Ho-Tep, My Wife and Kids). The film will be financed through crowd funding site Indiegogo.
In a departure from a string of successful action films, Isaac Florentine (Undisputed 2, Ninja) will direct from a script by Ira Schwartz (In the Shadow of the Cobra). The film will be produced by Frank DeMartini (Mad Money, Mechanic:Resurrection). Mark Joseph (Reagan, Tolkien & Lewis) will executive produce.
The filmmakers made the decision to turn to the crowd-funding platform of Indiegogo so as not to dilute the message of their screenplay, and to avoid the potential pressure of political correctness from a studio or network.
“This is not a holiday movie,” states producer DeMartini. “It's a Christmas movie!”
When first approached by the production team to star in the film, Sorbo’s response was an immediate and enthusiastic ‘yes.’ “I love Christmas-everything it stands for," declared Sorbo. "And when I learned that there was a movie in the tradition of the great Christmas movies, unashamed and unabashed in everything Christmas stands for, I was excited to join the team."
Known to audiences worldwide for his portrayal of the mythic hero, Hercules, as well as the star of the series Andromeda, Sorbo recently starred in the faith based box office hit, God’s Not Dead.
Casting for the female lead of the film is currently underway.
