Young Rabbit Has Life-Changing Adventure in New Book by Sandy Little

A new friendship is born when a house rabbit meets wild rabbits in this new illustrated children’s book. Dog Ear Publishing reviews “Montgomery Rabbit” by Sandy Little and illustrator David Wenzel.

Indianapolis, IN, December 15, 2015 --(PR.com)-- When a lop-eared rabbit named Montgomery falls through a hole in a fence, drawn to a field rabbit, he discovers a whole new world. Instead of waiting for his owner, a girl in dusty boots who brings him raspberries, he and his new companion decide to find the raspberry patch all on their own. Their adventure is lovingly detailed in this new book released by Dog Ear Publishing.

This award-winning tale follows Montgomery as he and a field rabbit named Bentley escape predators like a coyote with jagged yellow teeth before reaching Bentley’s warren home. The two convince Bentley’s family that they can find the legendary raspberry patch past the big pond all on their own and set out in the morning.

When a hawk pursues Montgomery, Bentley uses quick thinking – and some unsuspecting dogs – to help scare it away. They get an unexpected meal thanks to a kind stranger but find themselves in a dark forest to escape other dangers. When they reach the pond they have one more obstacle: Bentley can’t swim. With Mongtomery’s encouragement, the brave rabbits make it to the raspberry patch, where Montgomery makes a decision that will change his life.

Detailed, realistic illustrations by David Wenzel showcase nature’s beauty with their muted colors and bring the characters to life. The story teaches a gentle lesson of courage, kindness and the wonder that friendship can bestow. “Montgomery Rabbit” won the Award of Literary Excellence from Dog Ear Publishing, which honors books that impress the company’s editorial staff, for its charming story and stunning illustrations.

This is the first book for author Sandy Little, inspired by childhood memories of playing in her grandfather’s raspberry patch. Little, who spent 25 years in the entertainment industry on both sides of the camera, is a chef, photographer and traveler. She is a wife and mother and lives in Hidden Hills, Calif.

Illustrator David Wenzel has illustrated numerous children’s books, creating original artwork for more than 35 years. The graduate of Kent State University aims to balance realism with expressive effects to show emotion. He and his wife, Liz, live in Valley City, Ohio.
