What’s Up Interactive Launches Georgia Aquarium’s International Adventures
Social media portal engages large international audience online.
Atlanta, GA, December 21, 2007 --(PR.com)-- The Georgia Aquarium announced the release of its new International Adventures project – an interactive map that connects Aquarium visitors with the rest of the world through shared photos. The social media portal utilizes a “mashup” (a combination of separate technologies) from Google Maps and Flickr where members from around the world can post and share photos of their experience.
Beach Clark, Georgia Aquarium’s Vice President of Information Technology, said, “The map has been a hit with our visitors. It has been viewed by thousands of people online and in the building, and it has been an excellent tool in communicating that the Georgia Aquarium is an international destination.”
CEO and founder of What’s Up Interactive, Richard Warner, is thrilled with the outcome of this project. “Our relationship with the Georgia Aquarium is one of partnership. We worked closely with the Aquarium staff to develop this solution and offer an effective way to engage the Georgia Aquarium’s international audience online. Being the interactive marketing provider, our What’s Up Interactive team was able to effectively combine design and technology to create a wonderful experience for the visitor.”
Bernie Marcus, Georgia Aquarium benefactor and Chairman of the Board, originated the idea of Aquarium visitors from around the world being able to share their stories and photos on the Aquarium’s Web site. Marcus wanted to highlight that the Aquarium was not only for residents of Georgia and the Southeast, but for everyone around the world. He also wanted to give guests a look at the Aquarium through the eyes of their peers, other Aquarium guests. The Aquarium turned to What’s Up Interactive to find the best way to realize Marcus’ latest vision.
