Skin Rejuvenation Clinic, P.A. Offers Non-Surgical Injectable Facelift

Twin Cities medical spa administers Sculptra®, an injectable product that some physicians in the industry are calling a “facelift in a bottle.”

Minneapolis, MN, December 21, 2007 --(PR.com)-- With so many new topical products and non-surgical cosmetic alternatives hitting the market each season, it’s difficult to discern which anti-aging methods really produce the remarkable results they claim. Dr. Elizabeth Hagberg, owner of Skin Rejuvenation Clinic, located in Edina, MN recently went on the record to discuss one such option, Sculptra®, an injectable that some industry experts are calling a “facelift in a bottle.”

“Sculptra represents a new and unique non-surgical option that helps facial skin naturally regain a more youthful and natural-looking appearance,” said Dr. Hagberg. “But what sets this injectable apart is the fact that it can last up to 2 years and even longer in some cases. This is an ideal option for patients who are willing to invest a bit more upfront to have results that last longer than six to nine months, which is the timeline of most other injectable or filler products.”

Derived from fruit acids, Sculptra is a biocompatible and biodegradable injectable material known as poly-L-lactic acid that naturally stimulates the body to produce its own collagen. Sculptra allows a trained physician to literally "sculpt" a face by restoring its natural contours and smoothing out wrinkles, creases and folds.

Dr. Hagberg, who owns Skin Rejuvenation Clinic with her husband and business partner, Dr. Mark Hagberg, said it is important to note that this “facelift in a bottle” is a gradual process and more than one treatment is usually needed to provide results.

“Sculptra is really a building process. It is injected below the surface of the skin in the facial area of concern, providing a gradual increase in skin thickness. It takes time to gradually sculpt your facial contours, so after the initial treatment, I want to see my patients again in a few weeks to decide how many additional treatments are needed,” she explained. “Often times, two to three separate injection appointments are required to ‘build’ upon or restore wrinkled, lined or aging skin in the cheek and chin region.”

According to Dr. Mark Hagberg, if you are considering Sculptra, it’s important to do your homework. “First, make certain the person administering your treatment is a board-certified physician, trained to administer Sculptra,” he said.

He added that when you choose a physician, it’s important to sit down with him or her to discuss all of your non-surgical options. “Often times, we find that another injectable such as Restylane®, Radiesse®, Juvederm(TM) or Perlane® is a more suitable solution for a patient’s particular cosmetic issue,” he explained. “The good news is that there are currently multiple viable filler and injectable options available. 2008 is a truly an exciting time to be a physician practicing in the non-surgical cosmetic industry.”
