Denver technology company Aspenware announced the release of a public beta for Aventeer, an online platform that matches freelancers directly with hiring companies and provides back-office tools to simplify billing and paperwork.

The site, Aventeer.com, also gives real-time, local data to help freelancers set their billing rates based on skills and experience.
“There are plenty of places where freelancers can go and set up a profile,” said Aspenware CEO Josh Swihart. “But then what? They wait around. They aren’t sure how to get attention. They are stressed out about insurance or legal. They don’t know what bill rate to charge. They often have to deal with recruiters who don’t understand their business. And they don’t have visibility into how they stack up against others in their field.

Swihart said part of the goal with Aventeer was to get both freelancers and hiring companies out from under the control of recruiters, who can charge up to 100 percent commission.
Corresponding with the launch of Aventeer.com, Aspenware has also released “I’m Worth What?!?” (Imworthwhat.com), a microsite that asks for your name then scours the Internet to decipher your skills, experience, location, interests and personality. An Aventeer algorithm factors all this data and reports back to you what you should be earning hourly. Their goal is to help you maximize your visibility, credibility and earnings potential.
Two large Colorado companies have already signed on to start hiring freelancers from the Aventeer marketplace Jan. 1, and more are set to join in the first quarter of 2016, Swihart said.
