Allied American University Exemplifies Holiday Spirit for a Great Cause
AAU employees organize a canned food drive competition to support Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County.
Laguna Hills, CA, December 17, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Inspired by the annual Canstruction® event that takes place in South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, Allied American University’s (AAU) Student Affairs, Office of the Registrar, Career Services Department and Institutional Research Office came together to have a friendly competition for a good cause. Bringing in cans and showing off their creative side, the two teams constructed a pumpkin pie and fork and a snowman on the beach. During the contest period, AAU collectively accumulated 313 cans.
All cans will be donated on behalf of Allied American University to Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County, an organization whose mission is to end hunger in Orange County through their efforts of serving 320 member charities and feeding more than 200,000 individuals each month.
“We’re always looking for ways to give back to the community,” said CJ Bishop, chief operating officer at Allied American University. “It was a team building activity, but more importantly, it allowed us to support a worthy cause while having fun. I am pleased with how eagerly our staff embraced the challenge.”
This is the first year AAU has participated in a canned food donation drive, and the team plans to make this an annual tradition that will broaden its reach over the next few years.
