OKC Real Estate Listing Service Now Includes Info on 55+ Communities
Efforts of Oklahoma City real estate agents come to fruition as the local multiple listing service now includes a search field for 55+ properties and active adult communities as designated by the Housing for Older Persons Act (HOPA) of 1995. This new addition will assist mature home buyers and sellers in the home sale and purchase process.
Oklahoma City, OK, December 19, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Senior housing communities, real estate agents, and senior consumers themselves now enjoy the benefit of enhanced real estate information pertinent to clients over age 55 in the Oklahoma City area.
The area's real estate listing service MLSOK, acting on the encouragement, suggestions and advice of Nikki and Chris Buckelew, founders of OKC Mature Moves Real Estate Services, will – for the first time – allow real estate agents and consumers to search specifically for senior living options within the public MLS (multiple listing service) system.
To accomplish this, MLSOK has included a search field for what are known within the industry as age restricted communities. These sections will designate housing that is available exclusively to those aged 55+ and 62+ in accordance with the Housing for Older Persons Act (HOPA) of 1995.
“We have been lobbying for this addition since the summer and am thrilled it is done,” said Nikki Buckelew who, along with her husband, Chris, established OKC Mature Moves to educate and guide both consumers and professionals on best practices related to post-retirement housing. "Having specialized in helping mature home buyers and sellers for over two decades, it's a huge plus to finally have the age specific field available for properties that qualify. I so appreciate the MLSOK staff and board members for their efforts to incorporate such information into our multiple listing service."
Inclusion of these fields in the MLS search parameters will help consumers and agents locate property listings that are deed-restricted or otherwise designated for those 55 years or older. Buckelew sees the addition as an opportunity for Realtor members to better serve senior homeowners and buyers, but also as an improvement that will assist the efforts of developers, senior living communities, and the greater aging services industry.
“We are looking forward to continued collaboration in serving downsizing seniors through partnerships with senior living and retirement communities who want to market their available apartments in the local multiple listing service,” she says. "I believe it is our team's unique expertise and comprehensive approach to serving mature homeowners that will help to bridge the gap between the real estate and senior living industries -- ultimately improving the customer's experience when choosing to relocate into local retirement and active adult communities."
