Career Step Donates $15,000 to Special Olympics in Conjunction with Employee Wellness Initiative
Provo, UT, December 30, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Career Step, an online provider of career-focused education and corporate training, is proud to announce that through the efforts of its employees the company has donated $15,000 to Special Olympics. This donation was earned by Career Step’s more than 100 employees on a per mile basis as they walked, ran and biked during bi-monthly Workout Wednesday! (WoW!) events.
“Our Career Step team is second to none,” said Steve Tober, Career Step President and CEO. “Our Workout Wednesday! program gives us all the opportunity to get out of the office, enjoy the outdoors, build stronger relationships with our teams and, most importantly, give back to the community. I am always encouraged by the excitement and enthusiasm our employees have as we count the miles we accumulate and equate these miles to a dollar amount for our donation.”
The Career Step WoW! program was instituted in 2013 and is held year-round at least once a month, twice a month when weather allows. During the spring, summer, and fall, employees are encouraged to get out of the office and walk, run or bike with their co-workers. Most employees participate on their lunch hour, and then everyone comes together to enjoy a company-sponsored lunch afterward. Employees report their miles, which equate to a certain dollar amount. This year, the Career Step team put in approximately 2,200 miles.
This is Career Step’s second year partnering with the Special Olympics. In addition to donating through the WoW! program, Career Step employees also volunteered at a number of Special Olympics events throughout the year.
“Our mission at Career Step really revolves around making a difference—whether that is in the lives of our students, our employees, or those in our community,” said Allen Miller, Career Step Vice President of People Strategy. “Workout Wednesday! is another way we live that mission. It strengthens our team stronger as we improve our individual well-being and give back to the community all together. We are thrilled with the results of this year’s initiative and look forward to seeing what we can achieve together in 2016.”
