Seoul’s Official Travel Guide Application, the "iTourSeoul+," Has Launched
The city of Seoul and Seoul Tourism Organization have taken the important features of the "i Tour Seoul" and completely revamped them to release the new and improved "i Tour Seoul+."
Seoul, Korea, South, January 08, 2016 --(PR.com)-- The iTourSeoul+, Seoul’s specialized mobileapp for tourists, is newly released by the city of Seoul and Seoul Tourism Organization (STO) after introducing it in a beta format. Using the “Location-Based Service” feature, theiTourSeoul+ app allows users to check nearby hotels, performances, and subway stations all with the touch of a finger. Also, this app can be used to access Visit Seoul’s updates on festivals, events, recommended itineraries, tourist attractions, etc. on a real-time basis.
Previously, the iTourSeoul required a user to download travel information in advance but the iTourSeoul+ makes it more convenient by drastically reducing the memory from 250 MB to 25 MB. Downloading the app has now become much easier for the user.
Information on nearby bus stops and real-time bus arrival information can be accessed by turning on the user’s current location. This makes the app extremely useful and easy to use for those who are not familiar with Seoul’s public transportation system. The current location feature can also be used to make lodging and performance reservations right on the spot.
Within Seoul, there are 40 different tourist information locations that offer free copies of the “Seoul Official Tourist Guide.” With the built-in camera feature of a smartphone, the user can scan certain pages of the free pamphlet above and several icons will instantly pop up on the screen. These icons represent the facilities and services that are available in the area, such as hotels, restaurants, tourist attractions, and more. Developed by KIST (Korea Institute of Science and Technology), the Augmented Reality feature couples the use of offline and online resources.
The iTourSeoul+ supports services in 5 different languages (Korean, English, Traditional & Simplified Chinese, and Japanese). It is available for free download at major app stores such as Google Play, the Apple App store, and the Samsung App store.
Kim Eui Seung, Seoul’s General Director of Tourism & Sports, stated that “The mission with the iTourSeoul+ is to provide useful and essential information regarding transportation, accommodation, courses, performances that can be immediately accessed during one’s trip to Seoul, not just during the travel preparation stage.” In light of this, he said that “In order for many international visitors and tourists to use the iTourSeoul+, online campaigns will be set up through the use of popular digital mediums overseas to seek out the user’s opinion on what needs to be improved and changed. This feedback will be used in a diverse way to create a better service.”
