New Motor Vehicle Assessor at North Shropshire College
Oswestry, United Kingdom, January 09, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Julian Jones from Wrexham has recently joined North Shropshire College (NSC) as a Motor Vehicle Assessor for apprentices. Julian brings with him over 16 years of industry experience and has a wealth of knowledge to share with his apprentices. Julian has joined NSC at the same time as Sian Spear, the new Agriculture Assessor.
Julian has grown up around cars, he and his father have vintage cars and he has built numerous kit cars over the years. Julian has worked as a Master Tech at Kwik Fit and completed a Level 3 Apprenticeship part-time as a mature student. Julian then progressed to teaching with a role as an instructor/demonstrator at Deeside College for four years. Julian also spent an exciting 9 months at Ferrari in Manchester and now feels it’s the right time to utilise his skills once again in the education sector. Julian commented, "I’m excited to take on this opportunity and I am glad I’ve made the move back into teaching."
The College has many apprentices within the motor vehicle sector throughout the county. The apprentices come in to College one day per week to learn the theory behind the subject and also have the opportunity to improve their maths and English skills. The rest of the week, the students are in the work place learning in a hands-on way, on the job.
At NSC, the apprentices also have a rather unique opportunity to do work experience overseas. The Erasmus Project which is coordinated by the Enterprise and Development Department at the College enables apprentices to go to France for 2-3 weeks to gain valuable work experience in a new environment. Apprentices are given language and cultural lessons prior to travel and are fully prepared for the trip. Julian goes on to say, "I am excited about taking the apprentices out to France. It’s great for the students to get an opportunity like this; they will gain invaluable work and life skills whilst they are out there."
If you would like to find out more about becoming an apprentice, or if you are a local business who could offer an apprentice employment, please get in touch! You can contact Lucy Bowen, Apprenticeships Manager on 01939 262169 or email l.bowen@nsc.ac.uk Further information is available together with an on-line application system via the NSC website: www.nsc.ac.uk
