Stadium Publishing Releases 10th Anniversary e-Book of “This Could be the Year: My 30 Years as a Miami Dolphins Fan” by Rich Libero
St. Petersburg, FL, January 10, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Stadium Publishing LLC proudly announces the release of a Tenth Anniversary e-book edition of “This Could be the Year: My 30 Years as a Miami Dolphins Fan” by Rich Libero.
A hardcover version of the book, released in 2006, chronicles Libero’s hilarious personal experience as a Miami Dolphins fan as viewed through the 2002 schedule. This new e-book edition features updated Prologues and Epilogues following up on how Libero’s life as a Dolphins fan transformed after publishing the book.
People often ask the author: How did a native New Yorker become a super-engaged fan of a football team in Miami? And he responds: “It happened in the backseat of my neighbor’s Volvo.”
Just six years old, Libero learned about the Dolphins-Redskins Super Bowl game while waiting for a ride to Sunday School. He tuned in to watch the Dolphins complete the 1972 “Perfect Season” in Super Bowl VII and fell irrevocably in love.
“Thirty years later, as I waited for a screenwriting workshop to begin, my thoughts turned to football and I considered the Dolphins’ 2002 schedule,” Libero said. “The opponents provided an amazing collection of stories involving some triumph and a ton of pain. And suddenly it hit me: This would be my 30th season following this team…what a perfect time to share all my frustration!”
Indeed, the 2002 schedule offered Libero an opportunity to personally share his experience and historical perspective on moments such as the 1974 “Sea of Hands” game that ended the Dolphins’ dynasty in Oakland. He recalls the 1985 Dolphins defending the “Perfect Season” against the undefeated Chicago Bears. He also shares what it was like to grow up in New York, surrounded by “knuckledragger” Jets fans and his rivalry with best friend/football archenemy Mr. Zoo.
In this snippet, Libero describes how he avenged three winless high school years by torturing Mr. Zoo after the famed “Mud Bowl” playoff victory over the Jets:
“I selected the best Duhe picture available and ran off 20 copies on the library copier (Cost: $2, Experience: Priceless).
"For two weeks Mr. Zoo arrived at his locker and opened it to find a picture of AJ Duhe staring at him. When he returned home, an envelope with the same photo waited for him in his mailbox.
"After about a week he begged me to stop. 'I can't take this anymore, alright? You won, okay? Just stop.'
"I completed the vanquishing of my No. 1 Jets enemy with one final photo delivery and stopped.
"No victory has ever been sweeter, especially over the Jets.”
Priced at just $2.99, the 180-page book can be purchased at all major e-book publishers including Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Scribd and Smashwords, among others.

Libero, 50, lives in Florida with his wife and children. He graduated from Fordham University with a BA in Communications in 1983.
