CM Labs Simulations Releases Vortex Software Solution 6.6
Powerful new features across the simulation creation workflow, from model import and editing to scene design and replay.
Montreal, Canada, January 20, 2016 --(PR.com)-- CM Labs Simulations has released version 6.6 of its VortexTM Software Solution.
The simulation platform is designed to enable the creation of interactive vehicle and mechanical equipment simulations in non-deterministic virtual environments, for engineering and operator training applications.
“The focus of Vortex 6.6 is really on increasing simulation creation efficiency,” says Sebastien Miglio, CM Labs’ VP of Product Development. “We’ve streamlined the content creation process, and made it easier to create scalable, realistic environments for trainee immersion or engineering design validation.”
Enhanced efficiency and integration with design pipeline
Vortex 6.6 features the new Vortex CAD Optimizer add-on, which allows simulation developers to more rapidly transform 3D CAD assets into interactive mechanical simulations. Developers can now import CAD models and optimize them for simulation performance directly in the Vortex Editor, the platform’s desktop-based 3D editing tool. This new release also provides more flexibility to 3D modeling and rendering software users, allowing them to directly import industry-standard OpenCOLLADA 3D models into Vortex.
Vortex 6.6 also improves simulation precision and increases efficiency by making it easier to define the collision geometries (CGs) of complex shapes with new CG decomposition algorithms.
Designers will also benefit from new productivity-boosting tools. Vortex’s new Graphics Gallery feature allows them to fine-tune the visual properties (such as color, reflection, or bump amount) of models and their components within the Vortex Editor.
Several enhancements combine to improve the immersiveness of simulation scenarios. Vortex 6.6 features SpeedTree integration — accelerating the creation of scenes by providing designers with optimized vegetation assets - and also includes new marine environment visual effects.
During simulation scenario deployment, a new Simulation Replay feature makes it possible to bookmark key frames and resume the simulation scenario from that point. This makes it easier to explore different outcomes to specific scenarios, and can be leveraged by CM Lab partners creating simulators for operator training.
For a complete list of new features, consult the Release Notes on the Vortex 6.6 Backgrounder page.
