Los Angeles, CA, January 23, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Andrea Martina Isenschmid is a Swiss Actress and Filmmaker born in Lucerne, Switzerland. Andrea has been living and working in Los Angeles for a couple years now. Since she’s a little girl, she has been performing in plays, made her own movies, attended workshops in Switzerland and auditioned in Germany. After perfecting her English, she reached higher and attended full time acting schools in London and Hollywood.
Acting is by far Andrea's biggest passion, but that doesn’t stop her from trying every other possible job on set or even in completely different artistic areas. Andrea says with a smile on her face, “As long as I can be creative and express my feelings in an artistic way, whether it’s making movies, taking photos, painting, writing or even singing, I am happy.”
A few months ago Andrea published her second short film “The California Nightmare,” which she wrote, produced, directed, acted in and even edited it herself. It took her three years in the making from script to finished product. The film tells the story about two young talented artists, who once had a big career dream, but fell into the vicious cycle of drug addiction. Andrea has always showed a high amount of interest in people’s addictions and fixations. Andrea explains how it all started, “I got cast in a lead role in which my character ended up overdosing on heroine back in the 90’s Rave scene in Tampa, Florida. I did tons of research on drug addiction until the topic wouldn’t leave me alone anymore.” Her most recent one is a Photography project called “Drowning" shows various people in a bathtub, drowning in their own addiction to pills, alcohol, gambling, detox, caffeine or porn. The photos are available for purchase on iStockphoto.
Her most recent film projects include two Award Winning Short Films. A Sci-Fi Drama called "Timeless", that was produced by Murphy’s Law Productions, a Team of Filmmakers, with whom Andrea gets to work with a lot. They were part of the 48 Hour Film Project in L.A. and got selected for the Best of Screening at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. During the Screening Andrea was on set for another Film named “Daughters". Andrea recalls how thrilling it all was: “I was on set making an amazing movie and in my break quickly left down to see our film on the big screen at the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood and then back up on set to film a night scene. What a dream day.” Their Film "Timeless" won the award for “Best Production Design".
The other award winning short film "The Escape" was part of the 120 Hour Film Competition founded by James Franco and Scott Haze. It was produced by the All-Female Filmmakers group called “Chicks Making Flicks", of which Andrea is a very active member. Every woman of the Chicks Team has to take on at least one Filmmaker’s Job next to Acting. The crew and cast of "The Escape" also got accepted into the Idyllwild Film Festival this January 2016, which is often called a “Mini-Sundance” by The Hollywood Reporter. Their Short Film won “The Independent Spirit Award.”
Andrea is already working on a new project with the Chicks Making Flicks Team. A Comedy Web series about a dozen women living together in a Half-Way house. Ten episodes have already been written and is in pre-production with the shooting schedule set for March 2016.
One of the bigger projects she’s working on right now is a Murder Mystery Horror Feature Film again produced by Murphy’s Law. Andrea got cast in the lead role and they are producing a Teaser Trailer at the moment in order to fund-raise money for the actual Feature Film. Andrea explains the momentary status of the Murder Mystery: “The script is written and we’re casting right now for our Teaser. My absolute dream with this film is to go to Sundance and Cannes, I mean who in this business doesn't dream about that? Yes, it’s hard work, but there’s nothing more amazing than seeing your visions and dreams come true right in front of your eyes.", Andrea says hopeful and confident. She finishes with her personal advice for young actors and filmmakers: "Do what you love no matter what, be courageous, trust in the Universe and never give up.”
