Free Wheelchair Mission’s Miracle of Mobility Named in Top Five Dinner/Galas in Orange County by Orange County Business Journal
Irvine, CA, January 22, 2016 --(PR.com)-- The Orange County Business Journal named Free Wheelchair Mission’s Miracle of Mobility one of the Top 5 Dinner/Galas in Orange County in 2015.
The 12th Annual Miracle of Mobility Gala was held July 23, 2015, at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts and raised over $1,647,000. The funds raised provided more than 21,000 wheelchairs at no cost to people living with disabilities in developing nations.
The Gala included 613 guests who participated in a silent auction and a live “mobility auction.” Free Wheelchair Mission Founder and President Don Schoendorfer led the evening’s program, which featured bestselling author Nick Vujicic as the keynote speaker.
“Having our Miracle of Mobility Gala recognized as the third best gala in the county is an honor for all of us. For our relatively small and new organization to be recognized with these other much larger organizations that excel in what they do is humbling. The credit for our successful event really goes to our generous sponsors and each of our donors who passionately believe in giving the gift of mobility,” Schoendorfer said. “Together we make a difference.”
It is estimated that over 100 million people in developing countries need wheelchairs but do not have the means to afford one. Since 2001, Free Wheelchair Mission has provided over 895,000 wheelchairs at no cost to recipients in 91 different countries around the world. Thanks, in part, to the success of the Gala, Free Wheelchair Mission continues on its Mission to a Million to distribute one million wheelchairs by the end of 2017.
The 13th Annual Miracle of Mobility Gala will be held July 21, 2016, at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa, Calif.
