About Eroica: L’Eroica is an international vintage cycling event started by Giancarlo Brocci in 1997 in the village of Gaiole in Chianti, Italy. Mr. Brocci started with a simple desire to celebrate the heroic days of cycling, food and Italian culture as a means to preserve the white gravel roads (the strade bianche) of Tuscany. In 2016, the Eroica events, that are true to the original, will be held in Spain, Japan, South Africa, Great Britain, Uruguay and The Netherlands. It will also mark the 20th anniversary of the original event, L’Eroica, held annually in Italy. Eroica California is an event benefiting Hospice SLO. A portion of all proceeds (rider registrations, special dinner engagements and auction) are donated to the Hospice of San Luis Obispo County.
About Masi: Faliero Masi founded “Cicli Masi” in his home town of Sesto Fiorentino in 1926. Having raced professionally in his youth, Masi became an apprentice at the workshop of Cicli Campostrini, where he became consumed with the technological evolution of the racing bicycle. In 1972, Masi recognized the opportunity for growth in the United States and brokered an arrangement to bring manufacturing to Southern California. With his keen eye for detail, quality and “Masi” methodology, Faliero personally oversaw production of his iconic “Gran Criterium” model in a small coastal factory in Carlsbad, CA. With a deep connection to the history and culture of the bicycle, Masi continues to adopt a position of quality over quantity in its modern market strategy.
