Winner Announced in Horse&Rider's "Win-a-Day with Brad Barkemeyer" Contest
Staci Huffman gets her dream to train with this noted AQHA, NCHA, and NRHA horseman.
Boulder, CO, February 03, 2016 --(PR.com)-- The first-ever "Win-a-Day” contest with Horse&Rider gave the magazine’s fans a shot at a clinic for the winner and nine of her riding buddies with all-around horseman Brad Barkemeyer. Nearly 800 riders entered the contest, highlighting the passion for riding and skill improvement among members of the Horse&Rider audience.
In the end, Staci Huffman of Idaho was declared the winner. “I bought a mare of my own to train and have been taking lessons and learning to train for 2 years,” Huffman wrote in her winning essay. “I took my mare to high point at the large local show in the Ranch division. I currently am working on reining maneuvers and would love to compete in the amateur AQHA division of ranch pleasure next year,” she added, noting “I get the most satisfaction of watching my girls grow in their horsemanship and helping my friends. The more I learn, the more I get to help others.”
Contest entrants ranged from novice riders to top amateur/non-pro competitors vying for the chance to win a one-on-one clinic with one of the industry’s best. The field was narrowed to the top 10 by the Horse&Rider staff, and then those entrants submitted videos highlighting their riding skills and providing more information about their horse experience, from which the ultimate winner was selected.
“I'm thankful for the partnership between Horse & Rider and Weaver Leather that made this opportunity possible and would like to congratulate all the applicants. Over the past several years I have been consistently impressed with the quality of products and professionalism of Weaver Leather. As a professional horse trainer, I am proud to endorse this proactive, company that strives as I do to develop a high standard in our ever evolving industry.”
“Our readers inspire us on a daily basis with their commitment to their horses and improving their horsemanship,” remarked Horse&Rider editor Jennifer Paulson. “This contest further supported their goal-oriented, driven mindset when it comes to becoming better riders. We’re very excited for Staci and her friends to ride with Brad at the clinic.”
The contest was sponsored by Weaver Leather, who also sponsors Brad Barkemeyer. With over 40 years of manufacturing tack for a wide variety of equine disciplines, Weaver Leather has developed a reputation for bringing consumers quality, innovative products they can trust. “We are really proud to have someone like Brad Barkemeyer on our team,” commented Weaver Leather Marketing Manager Laura Rich. “His expertise, knowledge and love for what he does are a perfect fit for this contest partnership with Horse & Rider.
