Hyrel 3D Launches Syringe-Based Extruder Line

The Hyrel Syringe Delivery System is inexpensive, easy to load, can print thousands of materials, and has applications in numerous fields.

Norcross, GA, February 04, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Hyrel 3D announces release of new syringe-based extruder.

SDS line is ideal for cost-effective 3D printing applications in biological, mechanical, medical, electronic fields.

Hyrel 3D announced Tuesday the launch of its Syringe Delivery System (SDS) line of extruders. The SDS is the result of Hyrel’s close involvement with research teams on five continents.

The SDS extruders allow users to print material directly from syringes, which can easily be filled, swapped and stored by the user. There are no limitations on the types of material that can be loaded into the syringes, which means the end of monopolies on material supply chains by 3D printing companies.

The SDS line of extruders work exclusively with Hyrel 3D systems, and supports syringes in sizes ranging from 100 microliters to 60cc. Up to four SDS extruders can be loaded on a Hyrel System 30M, which allows layering and gradient prints that were previously impossible. Materials and ratios can be mixed and matched on demand.

The SDS has numerous applications in the biological, medical, mechanical and electronics fields. It can easily and accurately dispense thousands of materials with nano-liter resolution, including:

• Bio-gels and liquids used for bioplotting;
• Proteins, steroids, and PEG gels;
• RGB materials;
• Conductive pastes and liquids.

“The SDS opens up the unrestricted sourcing of chemicals for 3D printing — you’re no longer restricted to what suppliers will sell you,” Hyrel Chief Technology Office Karl Gifford said. “It’s ideal for people that want to develop cost-effective applications in numerous fields.”

The cost of the extruders start at $400 for a basic single print head. Quad-extrusion print heads that are compatible with micro-fluidic mixing chips start at $2,500. Each extruder head has local intelligent control via Canbus and MicroController.
