Are Men Really Worse Gift Procrastinators Than Women?
New research from LocalGiftCards.com finds that when it comes to last-minute gift-buying, men and women are equally responsible.
Boulder, CO, February 06, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Men have long been considered the primary group of procrastinators when it comes to buying gifts, but some new numbers from LocalGiftCards.com show that women are just as likely to wait until the eleventh hour.
The study, done by LocalGiftCards.com, an online marketplace where “locally-minded” shoppers can shop for small business gift cards, found that on a normal shopping day (that is, any day that isn't right before a holiday) women were making 70% of gift card purchases. This isn't surprising, says Maria Dent, VP of Operations at LocalGiftCards.com. “Outside of the holiday gift card rush, women generally have more gift-giving events than men do—baby and bridal showers, hostess gifts, birthdays, etc..”
“But,” she continues, “when we looked at who was placing orders with us at the last minute, we were surprised.”
It turns out, when it comes to under-to-the-wire shopping for major holidays, men and women procrastinate equally. On the day before and the day of major holidays last year, men were responsible for buying 49% of last-minute gifts. That's right, the majority of last-minute gift-buyers are women, not men. So, this Valentine's Day, don't jump to any conclusions. Your sweetheart might be a better (or worse) planner than you originally thought.
