English Teacher Writes Interior Design Book
Intending to write novels, Shannon Mendez had pursued English degrees in college. Two decades and not one novel later, Shannon decided to pursue a different passion: Interior Design. Ironically, while taking Interior Design courses, Shannon finally found writing inspiration and wrote The Home Staging Handbook. She realized that it's never too late to follow your dreams.
Folsom, CA, February 11, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Adjunct English Professor finally finds writing inspiration while taking Interior Design courses.
After earning her English degrees, Shannon Mendez intended to write novels. But soon after graduation, she realized that she needed to make a living, so she became a Technical Writer and then an Adjunct English Professor. A couple decades and a family later, Shannon finally found writing inspiration while pursuing her hobby.
“For the past few years, I have had a nagging thought that I should have written a book by now,” says Shannon. “I also had a list of other goals that I always wanted to accomplish.” After having a milestone birthday, Shannon decided to follow one of her passions and enroll in Interior Design courses at the same college where she teaches writing classes. After taking a Home Staging course, she finally found writing inspiration that compelled her to complete a book. Ironically, focusing on something other than writing is what made her finally write a book. “My experience, interests, and time finally came together.”
As Shannon was studying Home Staging, she realized that many of the books were targeted towards women or people wanting to become home stagers themselves. Shannon saw a need for a book that helped both men and women stage their own homes to sell. The Home Staging Handbook shares the reasons behind the key techniques of home stagers and provides worksheets and comprehensive checklists for home sellers to follow.
She hopes that her book will help everyone involved in real estate. Shannon believes that agents will have houses that are easier to show, home sellers will sell their homes quickly and profitably, and home buyers will move into homes that are in great condition.
Will she ever write a novel? “Maybe,” she says. Although she feels great that she’s completed that goal, it wasn’t exactly what she had envisioned twenty-something years ago. Shannon adds, “I no longer feel pressure. An important thing that I learned this past year is that it’s never too late to pursue your dreams.”
