Artwork by Frank Frazetta for L. Ron Hubbard's "Battlefield Earth" at Long Beach Comic Expo Draws in Characters from Star Wars to the Joker.
Long Beach, CA, February 24, 2016 --(PR.com)-- While there are dozens of comic conventions all over the US and costumed characters are all the rage, it was Terl from L. Ron Hubbard's "Battlefield Earth" (www.galaxypress.com) painted by the late Frank Frazetta and enlarged to 8' tall that drew attention from the likes of Chewbacca and the Joker in the Galaxy Press booth at the Long Beach Comic Expo. Characters and fans came to get their photo taken with the artwork and purchase copies of the bestselling books from the L. Ron Hubbard collection, of which BE remained a top seller.
Frazetta's cover art, named Man the Endangered Species, will be used in the upcoming editions of "Battlefield Earth" scheduled to release Father's Day 2016.
A commemorative edition with never-before-published author handwritten notes released concurrently with an unabridged state-of-the-art multicast audiobook with over 65 actors, 47 1/2 hours in length, 198 different characters with a soundscape of 150,000 sound effects and over 3 hours of original music. Pre-promotion for the release at the Comic Expo was well received by fans.
"We will be seeing more of Terl from Battlefield Earth," stated John Goodwin, President Galaxy Press. "In Salt Lake City for the FanX convention, expect to see a life-size Terl walking the convention floor serving up selfie opportunities."
The original release of the book already saw 32 weeks on bestseller lists and over 4 million copies sold. A 2016 science fiction poll listed "Battlefield Earth" in the top 100 of top science fiction stories of all time.
