Feature Film "Memoir" Creates Awareness About Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Seeks Distribution Deal
Memoir, a story of hope and redemption, depicts the reality of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The film is the voice for those often forgotten, veterans who experience and must live with PTSD.
Hollywood, CA, February 26, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Director and writer, Samuel Gonzalez, Jr. conceptualized the basis of the story for the film, "Memoir." Gonzalez and Christopher (Kit) Lang, who is also a writer, as well as an actor/producer completed the screenplay for this feature film which conveys relateable characters and story themes while depicting the affects of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).The actual memoir is told through a firsthand depiction of events through it's main character, as he recalls his actual experiences. The film's story is also about reuniting a son who had been estranged from his father, largely due to a lack of understanding regarding his fathers plight while suffering from PTSD, which his father developed as a result of his fathers time serving his country in the Vietnam War.
According to the films IMDb page, which may be viewed at http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1754194/ the description in part is as follows, as the veteran who suffers from the effects of PTSD "recollects his turbulent and violent life in a memoir stemming back from his days growing up in Long Island, New York in the 1950's, his abandoned son will stop at nothing to find him before he loses is father." The film production crew will wrap its final scene needed for the complete production by the first week of March 2016. Emily Trosclair is an Executive Producer on the film, who has assisted in various capacities effectively from casting, scene production, and content revisions/editing. She is an American actress who produces on various social cause films. The film, "Memoir" resonated with Trosclair due to the content, as her grandfather was a highly decorated veteran, according to Trosclair and "she saw the affects of PTSD in this strong, capable man whom she loves." Trosclair knows it is a story which must be told to be a voice for those who served and suffer from the after effects of war, and to create further awareness for them, their families and to educate the public at large.
Film production of "Memoir" occurred in New York City, and Los Angeles with a few scenes which were filmed in parts of New Jersey. According to Lang, the film will be distributed in both Spanish and English. They are seeking international distribution to reach the veterans and family and friends of those who suffer from PTSD and to create awareness on an extensive worldwide scale. In terms of the characters in the film and its back story being relateable to all, Trosclair summarized, "the film takes a well-rounded citizen who most all can relate to, a person who has their whole life ahead of them, and then demonstrates the major effects PTSD can have, not only on the person who directly suffers, but everyone surrounding them as well." Concerning the films premise of hope, redemption, and forgiveness, Lang stated in a recent interview, "the son in the film learns of his father's immense struggles, and through his father's memoir, he is then able to better understand the decisions made by his father and why. He continued, "the father recalling his memoir allows the father to be open and vulnerable about his struggles and through this redeems himself with his son, creating a bond that is now hope for the future." It is fact that through awareness and understanding, especially through recanting ones specific story, this is how understanding is brought to fruition, and how empathy may increase. In the case of PTSD, it is the general consensus from industry peers that Gonzalez, Lang and Trosclair have accomplished this through the production of this film.
