London, United Kingdom, March 02, 2016 --(PR.com)-- 19th February 2016, A GoPro Hero was found by an It’s Somewhere community member who saw the device bobbing around at Millaa Millaa Falls in Australia and quickly reported it on the website, It’s Somewhere.
It’s Somewhere is a quick, simple and free site to share lost and found media devices. Members can upload information about the device model, picture content, and the location that it was lost or found.
It’s Somewhere published photos from the lost GoPro on all of their social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Then, the It’s Somewhere community which is spread around the globe, shared the post making sure it was seen by over 17,000 people.
That’s when it was seen by Rebecca from Southend on Sea, UK, another It’s Somewhere community member, who shared the report.
Shortly afterwards, the owner of the GoPro got in touch with It’s Somewhere when she spotted her holiday snaps online, shared by Rebecca. Quickly, details were swapped and photos were returned (24th February, 2016), all within just one week of the lost GoPro being reported online.
With the explosion of Smartphones, digital cameras, DSLR’s and GoPro’s, there are no shortages of broken hearts and lost memories as holidaymakers and daytrippers alike struggle to keep hold of their precious devices.
About It’s Somewhere:
The young website aims to make sure that whenever a camera is found in the world, the photos on that device can be returned to the owner.
“Whenever I’ve been travelling around the world and I’ve met people who have lost a device they’ve always said the same thing, ‘I don’t care about the camera, I just want the pictures back’; so Daniel, Isabelle and I set about developing a community to help try and solve the problem,” Scott, Co-founder and brainwave behind the idea, said.
“Right now the site is young, we’ve had our first success story, but there are 100’s more stories every month to help with. We’re working on new features for the site, but the most important part of www.ItsSomewhere.com is the community. Technology can help support us more than ever, but without community, technology alone cannot do this job.” Daniel added, “We’re just trying to help return the memories to those who made them.”
