Grasshopper Adventures Offer a New Way to Visit the Silk Islands of Phnom Penh
Grasshopper Adventures, cycling tour specialists in Asia, announce a new evening tour to Phnom Penh’s Silk Islands.
Phnom Penh, Cambodia, March 05, 2016 --(PR.com)-- The Silk Islands, located within the channel of the Mekong River near Phnom Penh, are a step back in time. Just a short ferry ride from Cambodia’s capital they make an excellent getaway from the hustle of the city, and dusk is an atmospheric and tranquil time to visit.
Grasshopper Adventure’s new ‘Silk Islands at Twilight’ tour departs Phnom Penh early afternoon, and begins with the boat trip out to the islands. From here the exploration of the islands by bicycle begins, taking visitors along narrow tracks and small roads, through villages, orchards and market gardens, and to the silk workshops that this area is named for.
Isolated by the lack of bridges, the tour introduces visitors to a part of Cambodia that is slowly giving way to urban growth and development. The riding is flat and easy for anyone comfortable on a bike, with a distance of 20-25 being covered, and the journey is completed with a ferry ride back to Phnom Penh as the sun sets and the city’s light start to come on. On return to the city a classic Khmer noodle dish is provided for dinner before the return to the Grasshopper Shop where the tour ends.
