Keane, Micah Zevin, and Peter Marra on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. at Park Plaza Restaurant in historic Brooklyn Heights. Poetry grows in Brooklyn Heights and there's an open mic as well.

Valerie G. Keane is the founder of Poetry and Coffee, a discussion group for writers and readers of all levels of experience, where people are reading and talking about poetry for the joy of it. She speaks at high schools and colleges about how to love poetry from the bottom of your soul without an MFA and her work has been featured at numerous reading series throughout NYC, as well as in Newtown Literary Journal, where she also currently serves on the editorial review board for poetry. Peter Marra’s writings explore alienation, addiction, the functions and misuses of love, the curse of secrets, victimization and assorted obsessions. He has had over 200 poems published either in print or online in over 25 journals. His latest published work is approximate lovers (downtown materialaktion) published by Bone Orchard Press. An e-chapbook, peep-o-rama (Hammer and Anvil Books) is available as a Kindle Edition at Amazon. Peter has recently completed a new poetry collection Vanished Faces (a performance of occult infections). A native New Yorker born in Gravesend Brooklyn, Peter currently resides in Jackson Heights Queens.

Micah Zevin is a librarian for the Queens Library in Astoria, Queens, NY. He lives with his wife, a playwright in Jackson Heights, NY. He has recently published poems in The Best American Poetry Blog, Headlock Press, The Otter and Newtown Literary Journal. He has written reviews for SCOUT. He created/hosts a poetry prompt workshop/open mic called The Risk of Discovery Reading Series. He graduated with his MFA in Poetry from The New School in May 2014.
