Rye, NY, March 16, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Furniture Sharehouse is holding its first ever art sale on Thursday, April 7th, 2016 from 6:30-9:00pm at Serendipity Labs in Rye, New York. The evening is entitled “Home is where the heART is.” Tickets are $35 and can be purchased on the Furniture Sharehouse website at www.furnituresharehouse.org or by calling 914-834-1294.
Over the years, Furniture Sharehouse has received donations of hundreds of works of art, more than their clients can take. These extra pieces of art will be sold to the public at the art sale, with all proceeds helping to furnish the homes of people who move into empty apartments after leaving homeless shelters, fleeing domestic violence, and other struggles. Clients include veterans, people with disabilities, victims of floods or fires, medical crises, or other traumatic situations.
The goal of the art sale is to raise funds to furnish 25 families, providing them with gently used beds, dressers, a kitchen table and chairs, a living room sofa, an arm chair, and other basic pieces. Each family receives about 20 items after a visit to the Furniture Sharehouse warehouse located at the Westchester County Airport. Furnishings are the foundations of a home, helping people regain self-respect and a sense of normalcy so they can advance from adversity.
The art sale will include over 150 works of art suitable for display in a country cottage, a stately manor, a mod office, a sports den, and a child’s room. There truly will be something for everyone. Special contributions have been donated by:
Internationally renowned 3D Pop Artist Charles Fazzino, who is known for his bright, whimsical and wonderfully detailed 3D pop art including Cityscapes and Sports Art; Rye artist Steven Perkins, who works in oils and mixed media; Several local artists who have completed “Chair Makeovers” for the silent auction.
There will be terrific bargains, one-of-a-kind pieces, and limited editions. Most of the art will be sold at fixed prices starting at just $25, with a few special pieces offered through silent auction bidding.
The evening’s lead sponsor is TD Bank, and Westfair Communications is the Media Sponsor. Food is being donated by Mrs. Green’s, The Rye Gourmet, Café Gruener, Mint, Blue Tulip; Yonkers Brewery and Captain Lawrence Brewing Company are providing beer. There will be other tasty treats, wine and more. Additional sponsors include McClellan Sotheby’s International Realty, Carpet Trends, and Serendipity Labs.
Furniture Sharehouse collects gently-used furniture from the public and redistributes it to Westchester families and individuals in need, filling their empty apartments and helping them rebuild their lives. Clients are referred by a network of over 25 member agencies including: Westhab Inc., WestCOP, Hope’s Door, The Guidance Center, and Human Development Services of Westchester. Furniture Sharehouse helps over 450 families per year and relies on donations from the community to furnish these families.
