New Beginnings Church Partners with Junior Achievement of Central Carolinas

Students at Joseph W. Grier Academy to Experience JA in a Day

Charlotte, NC, March 17, 2016 --(PR.com)-- On March 18, 2016, through a partnership between New Beginnings Church and Junior Achievement of Central Carolinas (JACC) every student at Joseph W. Grier Academy in Charlotte will experience JA in a Day.

JA in a Day is a unique delivery method of Junior Achievement (JA) programming that facilitates the partnership between a single business and an elementary school. JA’s elementary level programs consist of five lessons. Traditionally, volunteers conduct a lesson a week for five weeks. However, with JA in a Day volunteers enter a classroom and conduct all five lessons in a single day.

On March 18th, 40 business volunteers from New Beginnings Church will blanket Joseph W. Grier Academy, serving as teachers, role models, and sources of inspiration. At the end of the school day, the students will have completed the JA program appropriate for their grade level and will have earned a certificate of completion. New Beginnings Church will also host Donuts for Dads – a session on the importance of fathering - located in the media center from 7:00 am to 8:00 am with guest speaker Colin Pinkney. Mr. Pinkney serves as Chaplain for the Charlotte Hornets and Executive Director for the Harvest Center. New Beginnings will also offset the cost for each child, educator and volunteer to participate in a school-wide pizza party in celebration of this wonderful event.

JA programming helps students foster skills in three key content areas: entrepreneurship, work readiness, and financial literacy. The impact of Junior Achievement’s programs is measurable. Students who participate in Junior Achievement programs demonstrate a significant understanding of economics and business concepts, according to independent evaluators. The students at Joseph W. Grier Academy will receive an important introduction to real world issues that will prepare them for a more successful future.

New Beginnings Church is located in Matthews under the leadership of Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Michael L. Henderson, Sr. and his wife former Mecklenburg County magistrate judge and CMS graduate, Rev. Twanna Henderson.
