NSC’s Hairdressing Star Apprentice
Oswestry, United Kingdom, March 17, 2016 --(PR.com)-- It is National Apprenticeship Week this week and to celebrate the achievements of their Apprentices, North Shropshire College (NSC) has chosen a Star Apprentice for each curriculum area the College has apprentices working in.
Abigail Hinton has been selected as the NSC’s star apprentice in Hairdressing, she has been working at Checkers Hair Salon in Oswestry. Abigail commented on her apprenticeship saying, "I have been doing my training in the salon and in the College, learning new skills that I can use in the salon which has helped me run my own column of clients successfully and work efficiently. I have enjoyed doing my apprenticeship, working as part of a team, I really enjoy my job."
Abigail discussed the benefits of doing an apprenticeship, saying, "You get the chance to improve your skills and get stuck into a job you will be doing every day, you get the chance to understand the profession and gain experience. I have also gone on to do other training courses through my employer and the College, since starting my apprenticeship I have learnt a lot of new skills such as colour and cutting techniques. The College has helped me achieve my targets to complete my qualification quickly."
Abigail’s manager, Sarah Williams, who has been at Checkers for 16 years commented, "Having an apprentice in keeps me fresh. We’ve all got ideas and learn from each other, it makes me more creative having someone in I can train up."
