SchoolRock, Inc. Launches Arts & Crafts Program, Preschool Rock Paper Scissors, for Children Age 3 to 5
Preschool Rock Paper Scissors™, specially designed arts and crafts classes for preschoolers, gives children a chance to expand their creative, developmental, and social skills.
San Francisco, CA, January 04, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Most preschool age children love arts and crafts. It's a great way to get them away from the television and develop their fine-motor skills, imagination and self-esteem. But it’s difficult for parents to come up with new ideas all the time. So, the creators of PreschoolRock.com, the first and largest network on the internet dedicated to parents and teachers of preschoolers, has launched their fun and educational arts and crafts program, Preschool Rock Paper Scissors, to address this issue.
Preschool Rock Paper Scissors™ is a program of specially designed classes that incorporate art history, art theory, hands on crafts, and open exploration of arts & crafts tools and materials. During the Preschool Rock Paper Scissors classes, licensed educators interact with the children, engaging them in conversation that builds both their vocabulary and social skills. Sitting along side their peers, children get the experience of working in a group setting, a skill that is ever so important when entering kindergarten.
Preschool Rock Paper Scissors™ classes are designed to let preschool age children:
• Explore a variety of tools, materials, and techniques
• Constructively focus their energy
• Develop language and social skills in a group setting
• Work along side their peers and learn by example
• Learn to cooperate with other children
• Enjoy creating in their own way and take pride in their creations
Classes are taught by a licensed educator. Their goal is to create an environment where the preschool age child can explore and develop his/her own creativity in a non-competitive, relaxing manner. From sculpting clay to mosaics, the emphasis is on the creative process, not the final product. There is no wrong or right way; pride in accomplishment is what is strived for.
The Preschool Rock Paper Scissors™ creator and program director, Shannon McMath, is a mom who saw the need to socialize her daughter with other children in a setting that promotes self-expression and a sense of accomplishment. She recognizes the benefit that arts and crafts at the preschool level has on development of fine motor skills, language, social skills and self esteem.
Knowing that communities all over the country are in need of children’s programs promoting the arts, McMath, devised a system to license others to become Preschool Rock Paper Scissors™ educators. They can then use the curriculum to contribute to the education and social skills development of children in their communities through arts and crafts.
Children, along with an accompanying parent, meet weekly for a 60-minute class for a total of four sessions. The cost of Preschool Rock Paper Scissors™ classes ranges between sixty and one hundred dollars for the four sessions.
