Brewster Lady Bulldogs 16U hockey team goes undefeated in NY State Championship; Heading to Nationals
Brewster, NY, March 25, 2016 --(PR.com)-- The Brewster Lady Bulldogs 16 and under team won the New York State Amateur Hockey Association Championship in Amherst, New York on Sunday. They won three qualifying games against teams from Pottsdam, Amherst, and Central New York. They outscored their opponents 16-3 to advance them into the semi-finals, where they faced Syracuse in the first round, who they defeated 4-0. They won the championship game 3-1 against Troy/Albany. Two of their five games were shut outs. This championship earned them a spot in the Nationals to be held in Burlington, Vermont beginning March 31.
This is the Lady Bulldogs’ third New York State Championship and third trip to Nationals. Says Coach Pedatella, “One of the things I always tell the girls is that as individuals, we can be beaten, but as a team, there’s nobody in the nation that can beat us. Our team’s success was also related to the hard work in the office and pro shop: extra ice, full ice practices, extra home slots, and the support we needed get the job done. We could have not won the State Championship without a strong foundation. Congratulations to everybody who contributed to this huge win!”
The first three games at Nationals will be played against the Concord Capitals, Alaska All Stars and Vermont Shamrocks.
The Lady Bulldogs are a girls travel hockey team that calls Brewster Ice Arena home. They have over 110 girls in the program, ranging in age from 8 to 19, with teams of girls that are 19 and under, 16 and under, and 12 and under. This championship team is the 16U girls. Most of the players are residents of the area, with some hailing from as far away as Long Island. They play a rigorous schedule and have been competitive against elite teams from all over the country this season.
