Dole Presents Friends of Oak Park Schools 4th Annual Fundraiser, Viva Las Vegas January 19, 2008
Oak Park, CA, January 07, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Dole Food Company is presenting Friends of Oak Park Schools 4th annual fundraiser, “Viva Las Vegas – What’s Spent in Oak Park, Stays in Oak Park”, on January 19th at the North Ranch Country Club. The event will start at 6:00 pm, and feature an evening of casino games, food and hosted bar, and will conclude with a live and silent auction.
“The best thing about an event like this is that people not only enjoy a night out, but the proceeds benefit all of the children in the Oak Park Schools,” said Barry Myerson, Chairperson of Friends of Oak Park Schools. Last year’s event, combined with their annual appeal letter campaign contributed to a $100,000 donation from Friends of Oak Park Schools to the Oak Park Unified School District.
Tickets for the event are on sale now via www.friendsofoakparkschools.org website, or by calling 818-735-3270. Group tickets for tables of 8 and 10 are also available.
Among this year’s auction items will be: The General Managers Suite for 12 at an LA Clippers game, 1 week vacation stay in Jackson, Wyoming, Gourmet Dinner for 8 by Playboy Mansion’s Executive Chef, Two night stay at the Four Seasons Westlake Village, including Parking, Breakfast, Dinner at Hamptons and Two Unity Spa Packages, Bret Favre autographed jersey, Misty May autographed gold volleyball, Mountain Bike, NASCAR Auto Club 500 Tickets and Pit Passes for 4, Trip to Griffith Park Observatory with OPUSD Superintendent and Science Specialist, and Culmination seats for all 5 Oak Park Schools.

About Friends of Oak Park Schools
Friends of Oak Park Schools is a non-profit organization with IRS 503(c)3 status. Dedicated to providing the Oak Park Unified School District (OPUSD) with additional private funding to supplement increasingly limited public funding. By working with dedicated parents and generous business partners in Southern California, they raise money to support educational programs that would not otherwise be funded.
Through fundraising events like the Slam ‘N Jam in 2006 and Casino Royale in 2007, as well as generous contributions from their Letter and Email campaign, Friends of Oak Park Schools have made over $210,000 in donations to the OPUSD in its four years of existence. This year’s fundraiser, Viva, Las Vegas, will take place at the North Ranch Country Club on January 19, 2008.
Their work is intended to complement existing school-based fundraising by addressing the district-wide needs. The Oak Park Unified School District in Oak Park, California is made up of approximately 3,800 students from six schools in the District: Brookside, Oak Hills and Red Oak Elementary schools (K-5), Medea Creek Middle School (6-8), Oak Park High School (9-12), Oak View High School (continuation 9-12), and Oak Park Independent School (home schooling K-12).
