Pretty Girls That Rock the Mic for Breast Cancer Awareness
Seven dynamic Austin female musicians are scheduled to perform at the “Pretty Girls that Rock the Mic” benefit concert on behalf of breast cancer awareness and research.
Austin, TX, March 29, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Some of Austin's dynamic female musicians are scheduled to perform at the “Pretty Girls that Rock the Mic” benefit concert on behalf of breast cancer awareness and research. The event will be hosted by radio personality Val Santos of FM 102.3/The Beat and will take place on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at 7:00pm (doors open at 6:00pm) at The AISD Performing Arts Center located 1500 Barbara Jordan Blvd., Austin, Texas. The event will charge $5.
Organizers state that, “The purpose of ‘Pretty Girls that Rock the Mic’ is to distribute information about breast cancer awareness, inform the community about available resources, and emphasize the importance of early detection.” In addition to live music from an all-female roster of diverse and talented musicians, there will be guest speakers who will share breast cancer information and literature. Planners will donate proceeds to an organization that serves breast cancer patients.
Breakout artist Nubia Emmon, whose team is putting on the event, was inspired to participate due to her own mother’s courageous fight with breast cancer which unfortunately ended November 21, 2013. “I’ve learned from my Mom, who participated in the first Pretty Girls Rock concert, that anyone at any age can develop breast cancer and this is why I want to encourage everyone---especially younger women---to get those annual exams. My Mom was only 44 so no one should think they are too young to get examined.”
