George Church, Harvard Medical School to Keynote Speak at GTCbio’s Big Data Bioinformatics Conference
George Church at Harvard Medical School will discuss, “New Technologies for Collecting and Interpreting Petabytes for BRAIN and Precision Medicine projects” at GTCbio’s Big Data Bioinformatics conference.
Monrovia, MA, March 30, 2016 --(PR.com)-- George Church is a Professor of Genetics at Harvard Medical School and Director of PersonalGenomes.org, which provides the world's only open-access information on human Genomic, Environmental & Trait data (GET). His 1984 Harvard PhD included the first methods for direct genome sequencing, molecular multiplexing & barcoding. These led to the first genome sequence (pathogen, Helicobacter pylori) in 1994. His innovations have contributed to nearly all "next generation" DNA sequencing methods and companies (CGI-BGI, Life, Illumina, Nanopore). This plus his lab's work on chip-DNA-synthesis, gene editing, and stem cell engineering resulted in founding additional application-based companies spanning fields of medical diagnostics (Knome, Alacris, AbVitro, Pathogenica, Veritas Genetics) & synthetic biology / therapeutics (Joule, Gen9, Editas, Egenesis, enEvolv, WarpDrive). Dr. Church has also pioneered new privacy, biosafety, environmental & biosecuritypolicies. He is director of an IARPA BRAIN Project and NIH Center for Excellence in Genomic Science. His honors include election to NAS & NAE & Franklin Bower Laureate for Achievement in Science, and he has coauthored 400 papers, 74 patent publications & one book (Regenesis).
GTCbio's Big Data Bioinformatics conference will provides cutting-edge information on developments in all areas of Bioinformatics research and novel Big Data analytic approaches. Through lectures and various discussions, the Big Data Bioinformatics meeting will assemble leading researchers and experts who will present solutions to some of the Big Data challenges in Biomedicine.
This conference is also part of the larger Genomics & Big Data Summit, which consists of three additional conferences including this meeting:
6th Next Generation Sequencing
3rd Metabolomics - Advances & Applications in Human Disease Conference
CRISPR & Genome Engineering
