Worcester, MA, January 05, 2008 --(PR.com)-- On Saturday, March 8, 2008 under glittering chandeliers in historic Mechanics Hall, local celebrities take to the dance floor paired with professional ballroom dancers from Poise, Style and Motion for a good cause. This year's event is the second annual dance fund-raising event hosted by Preservation Worcester and Dining Out MetroWest, and promises to exceed the excitement and glamour of the inaugural dance event that took place April, 2007. Last year, Dancing with the City was the talk of the town. The celebrity dance roster has been paired with their professional dance counterparts and have commenced their practice prior to the holidays. Dance routines will include the Waltz, Tango, West Coast Swing, whereby each contestant will compete against the other for the crown of "best dancer in Worcester", while helping raise funds for Preservation Worcester.

Tickets went on sale early in December, 2007 and the public is encouraged to reserve tables early since it was a "sold out" event last year and to support their celebrity contestant . The evening event is modeled after the popular television phenomenon, Dancing with the Stars. It is a collaborative venture between Preservation Worcester, Dining Out MetroWest, the City of Worcester, and Poise, Style, and Motion Dance Studio, and benefits historic preservation in the city.

Celebrity dancers have volunteered their time to learn their respective dance routines. The day of the event they will have clocked in an excess of 30-hours of dance lessons to ensure they are in the best shape they can be for show time. Besides the competition aspect of that evening's itinerary, the evening promises a little of everything for the enjoyment of everyone. A preview of this exciting event is as follows: Opening cocktail party serving hor d'ouevres; great items offered for silent auction; doors open to the ballroom starting with a group (audience participation) dance lesson by the staff of Poise, Style, and Motion Dance Studio; showtime commences with individual spotlight dances by the 2008 celebrities and their professional dance partners; Spotlight Dances including 2007 Dancing with the City female winner Beata O’Brien disco dancing with her husband, City Manager Michael O'Brien, and 2007 male winner World Champion Boxer Jose Antonio River dancing the Cha, Cha with professional dancer Edna Stefaniak; a final Cha Cha “Danceoff” with all celebrities and their partners. The denouement of the event is when the dance floor opens up for all to have fun dancing the night away. Professional dancers will be available to offer tips and techniques to those who are interested at this time. Andy Lacombe, Sports Anchor/Reporter for WCTR-TV3, and Steve Montouri, professional dancer and owner of Poise, Style and Motion Dance Studio, will be the Masters of Ceremony. The dance contest also will be judged by celebrity judges, Joan Sheary--former Radio City Rockette, and Bill Morganti,--critically acclaimed professional ballroom dancer and professional dance judge; Don't miss out on a memorable and glamorous night to remember.
