Ubique Networks Secures Investment from EVP, Innovacorp
Sydney, Canada, April 01, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Ubique Networks Inc., developer of a network intelligence and optimization platform that provides the ultimate lag-less experience for multiplayer online games (MOGs) and e-sports, today announced it has closed a pre-series A round of funding. The company secured investment from Extreme Venture Partners (EVP), a Toronto-based venture capital firm, and Innovacorp, Nova Scotia’s early stage venture capital organization.
In multiplayer online gaming, one of the key challenges affecting the ultimate player experience is the lag caused by latency and packet loss. Latency and packet loss result from the distance between the players and the game servers, and network congestion, respectively.
Ubique’s proprietary “Lag Sensing” Swarmio™ technology platform drastically reduces lag through dynamic optimization of game servers, thereby offering online gamers a level playing field, regardless of location or internet performance.
Along with its innovative technology, Swarmio also hosts an intelligent lobby system for multiplayer and e-sports games.
“The multiplayer online games and the e-sports sectors are growing rapidly but both the publishers and the gamers want drastic reduction in lag, and that is what we are providing,” said Vijai Karthigesu, founder and CEO of Ubique. “This funding will enable us to build out our user base, increase our production output and meet our global customer demands.”
While Ubique’s technology is applicable for many sectors, the company is targeting online gaming as the first application for Swarmio. The company last week opened pre-registration for the Swarmio Intelligent Gaming Platform.
"Online gaming is as hot as it gets right now," said Andrew Ray, IT investment manager at Innovacorp. "Ubique Networks has created a product that solves the biggest challenge facing this $15 billion, rapidly growing industry. The company has had impressive traction already and we look forward to partnering with Ubique for its next chapter of growth.”
“We see a huge potential in the dynamic optimization technology developed by Ubique,” says Ray Sharma, executive managing partner of EVP, which specializes in funding for mobile, big data and Internet of Things (IOT) related firms. “There are more than 700 million people around the world playing multiplayer online games or engaged in e-sports and the numbers are growing.”
