Dr. Dee W. Edington to Present at Employer Healthcare & Benefits Congress in Washington D.C.

Edington, Founder & CEO of Edington Associates and author of the books Biology of Physical Activity, Biological Awareness, Frontiers of Exercise Biology, The One Minute Manager Balances Work and Life, Zero Trends: Health as a Serious Economic Strategy and Shared Values-Shared Results: Positive Health as a Win-Win Organizational Philosophy and Professor Emeritus in the School of Kinesiology at the University of Michigan and Director of the Health Management Research Center will speak at the 8th annual Employer Healthcare & Benefits Congress. This year’s conference will take place from September 25 – 28, in Washington D.C.

Dr. Edington’s session is titled “Shared Values Shared Results™ Putting Value of Caring into Action” where he will present along with Olga Reupert, Vice President, Benefits and Compensation, Hub International. Dr. Edington will discuss how Shared Values Shared Results, Positive Organizational Health (including Positive Individual Health), Measure and Communicate What Matters, Value of Caring, and a Win-Win Philosophy are key concepts for making the most of your wellness and well-being program. He and Jennifer Pitts have proposed Shared Values-Shared Results as a New Model for Positive Organizational Health.

In addition to his writing and teaching credits, Dr. Edington spent 25 years in academic administration.

Trained in mathematics, kinesiology and biochemistry, Dr. Edington received his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Michigan State University and completed his M.S. at Florida State University. He did post-doctoral work at the University of Toronto and taught at the University of Massachusetts before coming to Michigan in 1976.

His interests are in the relationships between a supportive workplace and workforce, a high performing workplace and workforce, and quality of life and sustainability as they benefit both individuals and organizations.
