Experts Meet to Discuss How to Protect Nuclear Infrastructure from Cyber Threat
In light of increasing awareness of the threat that cyber-attacks pose to nuclear infrastructure, the Cyber Senate, a division of Sagacity Media, is to hold its inaugural Industrial Control Cybersecurity Nuclear Conference in May of this year.
London, United Kingdom, April 02, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Taking place in Warrington from May 23 to May 25 2016, the conference will bring together leading cyber security talent from key government agencies such as the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA), international bodies such as the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and businesses such as EDF and Lockheed Martin.
Organised by Cyber Senate, a division of Sagacity Media and a body dedicated to supporting partnerships and information-sharing in the cyber security industry, the event is targeted at senior security decision-makers, such as Chief Information Officers, Heads of Information Security and Heads of Operational Technology.
The diverse agenda will focus on topics such as identifying areas of vulnerability, threat detection, maturity capability models, risk management and how security professionals can develop their organisational priorities and methodologies in order to pro-actively defend their organisation. The event will also cover how to define and benchmark supplier responsibilities, manage supply chain cyber security and adapt new models for procurement.
Key speakers at the conference will include:
· Donald D. Dudenhoeffer, Nuclear Security Information Officer, International Atomic Energy Agency
· Richard Bach, Assistant Director for Cyber Security, Department for Culture, Media & Sport
· Robert Orr, Head of Cyber Security & Information Assurance Regulation - Office for Nuclear Regulation
· John Dickinson, Cybersecurity Control Systems Manager, Control Systems Group, Sellafield Ltd
· Walt Sikora, Vice President, Industrial Control Systems - Lockheed Martin
· Chris Blask, Director of Webster University’s Cyberspace Research Institute
As well as a packed speakers programme, the event will also include two pre-conference workshops covering an overview of the Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure’s (CPNI) Security for Industrial Control Systems (SICS) Framework and its assessment tools with PA Consulting Group and a session on how to better integrate the work of IT and OT teams in the industry from Harwood Security and Training Consultancy (HS&TC).
Discussing the upcoming event, organiser James Nesbitt of Cyber Senate said, “Unfortunately, cyber attackers are constantly updating their skills and knowledge, and this means that those working in security in the nuclear industry have a responsibility to do the same in order to ensure that they fully understand the part that they, and their organisation have to play in ensuring the safety, reliability and stability of our critical national infrastructure.
“This conference features some of the leading subject matter experts from some of the industry’s most influential businesses and organisations. It will cover the biggest issues facing our sector in detail and leave delegates better equipped to manage the challenges the shifting nuclear security setting presents, both now and in the future.”
Venue: The Centre, Birchwood Park, Warrington, WA3 6YN
