Eroica California International Event Comes to SLO County April 8-10
Eroica California brings participants from 29 countries and 42 states to second annual event.
Paso Robles, CA, April 03, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Eroica California will take place April 8-10, 2016 in Paso Robles Downtown City Park and surrounding cities. This event, originating from Italy, will draw cycling enthusiasts from all over the world and across the USA to San Luis Obispo County as they gather to celebrate the history of cycling. The three-day festival celebrates cycling’s historic roots complete with bicycle concours d’elegance, vintage bicycle swap, cycling expo, art, live entertainment, and a ‘heroic’ vintage bike ride. Additional highlights include a special viewing of the film, “Breaking Away” with a Q&A with lead actor, Dennis Christopher, at SLO's historic Fremont Theatre, special event dinners, and much more.
The grand finale of Eroica California is the vintage ride. On Sunday, April 10th, an estimated 1000 vintage cyclists will don vintage cycling apparel and set off on vintage bicycles (1987 made models or before) on one of four scenic routes through gravel & paved roads mimicking the ‘heroic’ days of cycling past. Four routes are offered: the Heroic or Long Route (127 miles), the new Coastal Route (88 miles), the Medium Route (73 miles) and the Short Route (40 miles). Each route offers unique geography and challenges. Just as in the golden era of cycling, each route has rest stops complete with gourmet food and drink to refuel while taking in the quintessential California scenery of vineyards, mountain vistas, and the Pacific Coast.
Eroica California offers to take you back in time through the lens of cycling. L’Eroica founder, Giancarlo Brocci, who will be in attendance, defines Eroica events as a means to “spread the authentic roots of an extraordinary sport with great soul. We want people to rediscover the beauty of fatigue and the taste of accomplishment”.
Of important note, Eroica California is an event benefiting Hospice SLO. A portion of all proceeds are donated to the Hospice of San Luis Obispo County.
