Kent Musician Releases Debut Single “Connect”
Singer-Songwriter and Psychedelic Rock Artist Ben Brown Introduces Solo EP
Kent, OH, April 05, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Ben Brown, long time front man of Vanishing Apollo and member of local band Drunken Sunday, released the first single off his solo EP entitled Something’s Coming. The single, “Connect,” is an original song featuring local saxophone player Tim Younessi.
“It started with a single saved dollar in an envelope marked ‘recording,’” said Ben Brown. “Having this album finally available for listeners is an amazing accomplishment, one of which I am very proud.”
Something’s Coming. is the first solo album by Ben Brown and was recorded, mixed, and engineered by Cary Crichlow at RCR Studios. Ben wrote both the music and lyrics and is the featured singer on all six tracks.
“I also produced this album,” explained Brown. “For every song I had a musical vision of what each instrument would sound like, the overall feel of the music and how they would mix together.”
Ben Brown worked closely with Tim Younessi, saxophonist for the band Tropidelic, and other guest artists such as Joel Covender from Drunken Sunday playing lead guitar, and Chris “Bubba” Gray from Vanishing Apollo on keyboard, drums and trumpet. Ben Brown provides the vocals, bass, rhythm, and lead guitars as well as unorthodox instruments for atmosphere like phone ringtones, feedback, and submarine radar bloops.
“Although influenced by psychedelic rock, there is a strong blues undertone that connects with the lyrics,” said Brown. “Something’s Coming is a personal journey representing stories of life, struggle, relationships and hope that I believe listeners will relate to.”
The second single, “I Won’t Give Up” is also now available by visiting BenaBrown.com. This Alternative R&B tune features lyrics inspired by Ben’s own personal journey to recover from a devastating car accident.
For a limited time, “Connect” and “I Won’t Give Up” are available for free by visiting www.BenABrown.com. To follow Ben Brown on Facebook search: Ben Brown & the Rattlin' Bones. The entire album Something’s Coming will be available on iTunes soon.
