Salt Lake Real Estate Agent Puts Social Spin on Agency

While in the stealth phase, real estate agent Nigel Swaby has focused on creating Facebook content. Swaby launched a Twitter feed at the same time his website went live at www.swabyrealestate.com.
Many real estate agents rely on mailers sent to specific zip codes to court business. “I wanted to leverage technology and create a truly social and interactive experience with social media,” said Nigel Swaby, owner of Swaby Real Estate. “Mailers cost too much for printing and usually end up in the recycle bin,” he continued. Facebook targeted ads can drill down to specific zip codes with a higher “open rate” than postcards. Swaby is abandoning the traditional blog platform for content generation, instead using Facebook’s updated Notes feature.
Swaby believes content on social media is more shareable, which he values more than “findability” or search engine results. “People search for real-time results on Twitter. Even my Facebook Notes posts are getting ranked by Google,” he explained. Swaby first met his broker, Rob Aubrey, online nearly ten years ago. “Rob was one of the first agents in Salt Lake to blog and he’s done some amazing things to fully digitize his brokerage including an online transaction system. That’s the biggest reason I decided to work with him,” he summarized. Going fully “social” is the logical next step for Swaby Real Estate.
