USA to Provide Insight Into Cyber Security and Technological Systems at International Port Security 2016
SMi Group reports: SMi’s highly anticipated 7th annual International Port Security will return to London on the 1st-2nd June.
London, United Kingdom, April 07, 2016 --(PR.com)-- With the constant evolution of technology in today's society, cyber security and technological systems are key areas that need to be considered when discussing port security. These are two topics which will be explored across the two-day conference.
"As more US ports turn to automation to increase the efficiency of their operations, the House Homeland Security Committee warns they could be at risk of cyber-attacks." *(Source)
Rear Admiral Paul Thomas, Assistant Commandant for Prevention Policy, USCG will be speaking on Day one of the conference about 'Preparing a Cyber Security Policy in the USA to Protect American Ports'. His session will focus on: Recent examples of cyber-attacks within ports and the impact of these on the port; challenges faced by the US Coastguard in developing a policy; solutions devised to defeat these challenges as well as further improving cyber security within ports.
“The Port of Long Beach (POLB), the second business seaport in the US, is just one port working towards developing the most automated and efficient container terminal in the US, along with its neighbour, Port of Los Angeles (POLA)." *(Source)
Randy Parsons, Director of Security from the Port of Long Beach will be delivering a key note presentation on 'How the 'Virtual Port' Enhances Domain Awareness, Incident Response & Recovery.'
