Rombergers to Reunite, Celebrating 263 Years in the U.S.
Meeting once more above the rolling farmlands of Berrysburg, the Romberger All-Family Reunion this year honors the life of its founder. Dr. John Romberger led the successful search for the family's immigrant ancestor's German village and home so his work and spirit will be commemorated.
Berrysburg, PA, April 15, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Might you be a R-mb-rger? Arriving German immigrants speaking to English-speaking Americans had their names recorded numerous ways. The descendants of Bartel Raumberger carry names such as Romberger, Ramberger, Rumberger, Rombarger, Rambarger, Rumbarger, Raumberger, Raumbarger, and Rauenberger. Still, anyone carrying one of these variations is likely one of Bartel's descendants who would enjoy and profit by a visit to the 2016 family reunion.
Scheduled for Saturday, June 18th, beginning at 9 am, the family will converge on Saint John's Lutheran Church in Berrysburg, Pennsylvania, the spiritual cradle of many family members - where they worshiped and were laid to rest. The church rises above the rural valley, affording views of the area and adjoining cemetery, and provides a sense of stepping back in time.
Since 1982, The Romberger Family Association has been meeting periodically, and over the years has become one of the best documented U.S. families. This year's reunion will honor the life of Dr. John A. Romberger, who directed the successful search for the family's original ancestor's German town and home. Family Historian Bob Averell has found many new descendants so there's now more info than ever to to assist family members in their genealogical pursuits. This is a great opportunity to explore one's roots and ensure one's family lines are linked by sharing known information. There's also a hard to describe feeling about sharing a room with many other people who are kin. Lunch, singing, awards and stories await.
For the price of a contribution and/or a covered dish, family attendees may enjoy this beautiful place, a family meeting, conversation, viewing displays, and walking the cemetery. Also, there's a lot to do in the area so it's simple to plan a weekend if one chooses. Area activities are in the reunion information packet that may be requested below.
Only once every few years is there an opportunity to have the benefit of people who truly know the family, and to stand where Romberger forebears once did, so now is the time to request an info packet.
