NSC & SCC’s Careers Fair a Huge Success
Oswestry, United Kingdom, April 17, 2016 --(PR.com)-- North Shropshire College (NSC) held the ‘Your Future Careers Fair’ in, partnership with Shropshire Chamber of Commerce (SCC), at the College’s Oswestry Campus recently. The Fair was open to NSC students, school pupils and members of the public, giving them the opportunity to see what universities, training providers and local employers can offer them. Members of the local business community supported the event by holding ‘Have-a-Go’ workshops, giving attendees valuable advice and practice with skills such as interview techniques.
A popular ‘have-a-go’ activity during the event was the digger simulator brought by Hawk Group and the 3D printers brought by Shropshire 3D Print. Zoosbury’s small exotic animals were handled throughout the event by attendees, a big hit was Sydney the Royal Python.
Business Course Leader, Sarah Probert, commented, "I would like to pass on my thanks and gratitude to all of the businesses, business leaders, educational providers, charities and the Army who supported the NSC Your Future Careers Event. Business involvement in 'Bridging the Gap' between employment and education is paramount and I am grateful for their support. Thank you to Mayor of Oswestry Peter Cherrington, Deputy Mayor Paul Milner, Claire Woolgrove and Susan Lawrence who conducted mock interviews throughout the day, the students found these extremely beneficial."
Sarah added, "It was fantastic to see so many young people and there was a real buzz of excitement. It is important that I also take this opportunity to thank my students for the efforts running the event and my colleagues Lucy Evans and Pippa Evans who made this event happen. It was fantastic to work in partnership with the Shropshire Chamber of Commerce who supported us not only financially but with staff and goody bags also, I look forward to running an even bigger partnership event during the autumn term."
