Cedar Lake Cellars Makes Donation to Local Charity
St. Louis winery supports animal shelter with proceeds from handcrafted wine
St. Louis, MO, April 28, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Cedar Lake Cellars, a winery and event center, recently contributed $500 to Five Acres Animal Shelter. The winery donated $1 per bottle of 3 Swans’ Ileane “Leg-a-cy” Malbec sold during a recent three-month time period.
The handcrafted West Coast wine was named after Ileane, a very special and brave swan that calls Cedar Lake Cellars home. In April of 2015, Ileane was nesting near the winery’s lake and a lawn mower operator invaded her space. She fought with the lawn mower… and lost the battle.
With her life in peril, Ileane was quickly taken to several animal hospitals before an experienced veterinarian, Dr. Doug Pernikoff, was eventually found that could treat her. She was given only a 20% chance of survival due to her badly injured leg. An attempted bone fusion failed and, with no other options available, her leg was amputated. With the help of a team of experts, they are creating a prosthetic leg for Ileane so she can one day return to the winery.
Proceeds from the sale of 3 Swans’ Ileane will benefit Five Acres Animal Shelter, the only no-kill animal shelter in St. Charles County. The shelter’s mission is to end pet homelessness, promote responsible pet ownership, and advocate for animal welfare.
“This donation shows our support and commitment to all animals,” said Cedar Lake Cellars’ owner Carl Bolm. “We are proud to contribute to such a worthwhile organization that benefits both St. Charles and beyond.”
Cedar Lake Cellars, which is situated on 170+ acres of picturesque land, is located at 11008 Schreckengast Rd. in Wright City, Mo. For more information, call Cedar Lake Cellars at (636) 745-9500.
