Bathys Hawaii Releases COSC Chronometer
Hawaii-Based watch company Bathys Hawaii releases its first COSC-certified chronometer.
Kapaa, HI, May 01, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Hawaii-based watch brand Bathys Hawaii has released a limited production of its new Benthic COSC Professional Diver featuring an Officially Certified Superlative Chronometer ETA 2892-2A movement. This innovative small US brand continues to defy expectations by being the first US “micro-brand” to offer a COSC-certified chronometer. This new release comes on the heels of their pioneering effort to create the first atomic clock to fit inside a wristwatch in 2013.
This new Swiss-Made Diver watch was developed over a two-year period via a collaboration between Bathys Hawaii Founder/Owner John Patterson PhD and his Swiss partners at Mondaine Watch Ltd. based in Solothurn, Switzerland. Working together they have created a timepiece that in every way rivals timepieces that can cost up to five times more. The new Benthic COSC Professional Diver features a solid 316L stainless steel case that clocks in at 44mm in diameter, while maintaining a low profile of only 12.4 mm in height - wrapping cleanly over the wrist rather than being a large awkward “puck” on the arm. The watch sports a slightly-domed anti-reflective coated sapphire crystal on the front and a large sapphire crystal exhibition caseback on the reverse side - allowing the owner to peer inside the case to see the beautiful perlage and cotes-de-Geneve decorations that grace the automatic ETA movement. The watch features a rare combination of 200 meter water resistance with an exhibition caseback. A large, easy-to-grasp screw-down crown is flanked by crown protectors and the unidirectional rotating bezel contains a flush-set luminous triangle to mark the time-of-dive. The watch comes on a waterproof black leather strap that can be worn in the ocean daily for years and still look like new.
The Benthic COSC Professional Diver is being made in a limited series of 25 pieces for 2016. The price for this timepiece is $2195 USD and is available in the Bathys Hawaii online store.
Bathys Hawaii was founded on the Hawaiian Island of Kauai in 2005 and since then has built a reputation for designing functional, reliable watches that offer exceptional value. The brand seldom advertises; rather using social media and word-of-mouth to access customers. A survey by the firm in 2014 found that over 70% of their business was repeat customers - many coming back to buy their 3rd, 4th, or even 10th Bathys watch - such loyalty is rare in the word of luxury timepieces.
