DNA Art Gallery Launches New Pet Product Line

The Pet Portraits are for those interested in getting one's beloved pet’s unique genetic profile as art. With a saliva or hair sample from a furry companion, a personalized portrait made from the DNA profile by DNA Art Gallery LLC.

Wichita, KS, May 07, 2016 --(PR.com)-- DNA Art Gallery LLC creates personalized DNA portraits on canvas made from a DNA profile. What makes each individual unique comes down to the codes set in each person’s DNA. DNA Portraits are those individual genetic profiles beautifully displayed in canvas artwork. Using a patent pending process to capture the DNA Profile, each art piece not only displays a unique genetic fingerprint, but also illustrates the traits that make each person distinct; such as love, success, happiness, creativity, IQ, and more. This process occurs in DNA Art Gallery’s lab by adding custom PCR primers that target specific genes when creating DNA Portraits.

How it works is they send out an easy-to-use DNA Collection Kit with simple instructions on how to collect DNA with a buccal swab, this basically collects DNA from the individual's saliva. After receiving and processing the DNA sample, the image is then transposed to canvas or digital file using photo editing software. DNA Art Gallery offers an original, abstract, and now pet product lines. All products include optional photo overlay, large canvas sizes, and gallery wrapped option.

“I have always been interested in science. After working in various labs throughout school and work, I thought this would be a great idea, so I added targeted genes to my lab process and patented it,” stated owner Lisa Camper. This process begins by isolating the DNA from the buccal swab. Primers and restriction enzymes are added to the DNA solution, which are basically molecular "scissors" to cleave the DNA at precise locations. At this point, there is a small amount of DNA; the sample size is now augmented using a technique called PCR. In short, this technique uses thermal cycling to amplify the DNA sample by taking it through a series of steps. With thousands of copies of particular DNA sequences now generated, the DNA is ready for separation using gel electrophoresis. During this step the sample is placed in a porous, sponge-like matrix, and an electric current is ran through to separate the different sized fragments, creating an illustration of one's unique DNA Fingerprint.

DNA Art Gallery now offers Pet Portraits, which were created for pet owners interested in getting their beloved pet’s genetic fingerprint as art. The love one’s furry friend has provided over the years has makes them a true member of the family. Capturing their genetic portrait is a great memento of this strong bond. Our Pet Portraits optionally include addition of a photo of your furry friend to their DNA Portrait. This is the only product line we offer with the capabilities to create the DNA Portrait by extracting the DNA in a hair sample. After several requests from customers that are dealing with the death of a beloved pet, DNA Art Gallery decided to turn to the lab and see how the request can be accommodated. The lab process was then modified to extract DNA from the pet’s hair sample. So for those dealing with the loss of their faithful pet, DNA Art Gallery includes a tiny adhesive roller in the DNA Collection Kit to easily obtain a DNA sample to create a unique pet portrait made from their pet’s unique DNA profile.
