Pakistan Wins Discus Throw Silver at Asian Masters
Lahore, Pakistan, May 10, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Dr Ali Bajwa won Silver in the Discus throw competition and secured the only medal for team Pakistan at the 19th Asian Masters Athletics Championships in Singapore that concluded on 8th of May. Shelton Dcosta and Surendra Kumar of India got the Gold and Bronze medals respectively. Athletes from 20 countries participated in the championships, which were won by China followed by India and Japan in 2nd and 3rd place. Ali is an Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in Sports Medicine and his previous exploits include a successful on-foot expedition to magnetic North Pole in 2010. Ali Bajwa felt that his Discus placing coming exactly 50 years after his Father Wing Commander (R) Mohammad Tufail Bajwa represented Pakistan in 5th Asian Games in 1966, made it especially sweet. He particularly thanked former Discus champion and friend Salman Iqbal Butt from Lahore for his support and encouragement. Ali also acknowledged the support of Pakistan Athletics Federation for making this possible.
