Players vs. Cancer. Using Friendly Gaming to Provide Children the Fighting Chance They Deserve.
A group of students from the University of Washington Tacoma (UWT) got together to do a class project that would help the community. They decided to use online computer and console gaming as a tool to help children fight cancer. They created an event where they will host online gaming and viewers from all over the internet can login to watch them play. These viewers can donate to the Extra-Life foundation.
Tacoma, WA, May 12, 2016 --(PR.com)-- This event will be held 11am May 27th, 2016 on the UWT campus in Tacoma, WA and broadcast live at https://www.twitch.tv/godawg. "We are excited to bring our community of gamers together to help support a great cause," said Go Dawg Gaming member Cuneyt Baris. "Doing something we all love to support those who need it most. There's no better feeling then that."
Go Dawg Gaming is a group of UWT students raising money for a charity organization called Extra Life. Extra Life unites thousands of players around the world to support Children's Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN Hospitals) which is a non-profit organization that raises funds for children's hospitals, medical research and community awareness of children's health issues.
Extra Life is a fundraising event, the proceeds of which go to branches of the CMN Hospitals. 100% of all donations go directly to the hospitals. Extra Life was formed in 2008 to honor Victoria Enmon, who was suffering from Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. It was aided by the "Sarcastic Gamer" community, who sent gifts and video games to her. It has since expanded to help other children suffering from Cancer.
